Brief Answer:
Burning Pain below ribs?/ Under Assessment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.
Reviewed your query with scanty information details.
Do get more information- as follows-
Which side of chest/abdomen?
Is it below rib cage ?which side ? left or right?
How it started?was there any trauma/twist/ straining to cause it?
In My opinion from your history-it seems to be musculo-skeletal burning pain ,from rib catch.
But needs to be ruled out from Heart ailment at this age of your father?
Would advise to have- ECG and Physicians opinion.

Above reply is to guide you on the risks with burning pain in ribs.

Waiting for more info as asked above, for the final reply.

Welcome for further query in this regard.

Brief Answer:
Could be Ischemia

Detailed Answer:
Read and reviewed your updates in context to your health concerns.

As the pain is persistently recurring,on left side of chest and without any accompanied severe chest pain / sweating, the risk of Ischemic Heart Disease needs to be ruled out especially at this age before treating for other causes of musculoskeletal burning pain- like intercostal nerve compression by aging and sprain of the chest/ or other causes like pleurisy / GERD. Hence ECG / chest x-ray / stress test and or / holtzer's test is suggested for your father's case after primary check with ER-Physician .

I will recommend that your father consult a GP doctor, who would take needful steps after primary examination and assessment for Cardiac causes and would shift to ER Cardiologist if necessary.

Hope this would resolve the health issue with your father and the worry with it.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
