Will Intake Of Methamphetamine Eliminate Naltrexone Out Of System?

Posted on Tue, 27 May 2014
Question: Hey! So I'm looking to do some heroin right now but the thing is I took this dang Naltrexone stuff at around 11 this morning. I'm wondering if it's worn off. It was the first time I've ever taken it. I took it because I'm in withdrawal and I thought it would help, but it's made it much worse and I want to satisfy this by doing some H. Will it work? I've also smoked about .1 of methamphetamine today. Would that have sped up the process of it getting out of my system and the Naltrexol's half life??

HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.

Elimination half life of naltrexone is 4 hours and its metabolite is 13 hours. If you have taken it at 11 am in morning, then it would show its effect till 12 at night and in between, if you take heroin, you would not get high. Naltrexone is opioid antagonist and it blocks the receptor completely, due to which even after taking heroin or any opioid, you would not get any response.

You can take heroin tomorrow, but after that, do not take naltrexone, otherwise, you would get withdrawal. There should be 7 days abstinence period between heroin intake and beginning of naltrexone. If you try naltrexone in between after heroin intake, you would get severe withdrawal.

Currently, you have only one option, just go to emergency room and get some symptomatic treatment.

If you want to take meth, you can take, but it would not speed up it metabolism.

In case, you have any more query, you can ask.
