Posted on Mon, 1 Oct 2012
Question: Good morning:
Sometimes I feel a slght weakness sensation in my right leg.
Some advice?
I'm just worried because lately it has been said that leg weakness could be a hidden sign of incoming stroke.
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Slight weakness only in the right leg might be due to nerve compression caused by the osteophytes in your lumbar spine.
Doing an MRI will help in finding out the exact location and extent of nerve compression.
The leg weakness that you are having is least likely to be due to stroke.
For proper management of your symptoms, kindly visit an Orthopedician.
Meanwhile you can follow these measures:
- While resting, keep a pillow under your knees if it doesn't bother you.
- Avoid lifting heavy objects.
- back strengthening exercises and stretching exercises for your hamstrings daily as advised by a Physio.
- improvise your posture while sitting.
I hope this answers your query effectively.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.
Regards.
