When To Breast Feed A Baby After Using Parasidose?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Jul 2014
Question: My 4 year old daughter came home from kindie today with head lice. I treated them this evening with 'parasidose' which contains d-phenothrine as it's active ingredient. I am breast feeding a 4 week old baby. It did state on the packaging not to be used by breast feeding mothers, but it did not occur to me that I couldn't apply it. I did the first application, then became worried and stopped. Should I express and discard my breast milk , and if so for how long ? I'm very anxious I could harm my baby.

Brief Answer:
dont worry just skip 2 days feed

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Topical application and only once shouldn't be of much concern.
But I would recommend skipping breast feeds by expressing and letting them out for 2 days.
After that your breast feeds should be safe.

Dr Arun
