When Should A Pregnancy Test Be Done?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Jul 2014
Question: My period is now 7 days late. I took a pregnancy test when it was only 3 days late because I was panicking, but it was negative. I've been constipated off & on for a couple weeks, for 4 days at a time. Nausea a couple times this past week. Headaches, a mix of extreme fatigue & restlessness. Dizzy spells multiple times a day. Cramping somewhat for about 12 days or so, but not intense cramping like when I am on my period. It sounds like pregnancy symptoms to me, did I test too early? When should I test again?

Brief Answer:
REPEAT HOME PREGNANCY TEST OR UNDERGO BLOOD TEST.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Early pregnancy test may give FALSE NEGATIVE result in presence of pregnancy symptoms. 96 to 99% POSITIVE result is achieved 7 days after missed period.

Here, I suggest you to REPEAT the home pregnancy test or undergo one blood test for beta-hCG (more RELIABLE) to confirm pregnancy. Morning urine sample is preferred for the test.

On NEGATIVE test, hormonal imbalance, mental stress or emotional upset, pelvic infection, over weight, irregular diet habit may cause late period and above clinical features are closely related to Premenstrual Syndrome in absence of pregnancy.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.
