Brief Answer:
Detailed investigations are required for diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details and i appreciate your concerns.
Normal bowel moment would never produce mucous.
Mucous means that something is wrong with the intestine in form of obstruction or Inflammation(like inflammatory bowel disease) or Infection.
Some tests should be like-
1)Stool routine and microscopy with culture and sensitivity.
2)Fecal calprotectin- Suggestive of inflammation in intestine.
Both these tests could be done at nearest lab and would require a small sample of stool.
3)A colonoscopy-To look into the intestine for inflammatory disease and any obstruction(This would be done by a Gastroenterologist).
Hope i was helpful.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Take MIRALAX.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
You could take a laxative/Stool softener like MIRALAX(over the counter) but in case you don't pass stool even after 2 doses then don't take it as there may be some obstruction.
Thanks!
