Question: Hi Dr.
Please read through my thread it is bit long.
On 1st Oct 2015 I had risked myself by having brief unprotected sex with a CSW. Post which i got hell scared and got myself tested with the 4th generation Duo tests at 7th week 12th week and 22nd week all came negative.
I was very happy with the results however few days ago i read in an onljne forum A guy was tested negative at 3rd and 6th month but tested positive after 9 months. He did not mention about the risk he took neither the tests he took my questions are.
1. What are the chances of late seroconversion in my case i havent risked myself post 1st October 2015.
2. I am getting this pin/needle senstion here and there in my body i am not sure what it is?
3.Once the HIv virus enters the human Body can a 4th generation test detect the antigens and antibodies ASAP?
4. What could bde the case of that guy
4. Am i 100% HIV negative do I need to do further testings
5. How do I get rid of these thoughts of HIv i am getting married this year.

Request you to answer all.my queries.

Brief Answer:
No chance of late seroconversion and you are 100% safe.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your query and understand the concerns you are worried for.

If you have no anyother exposure after 1st October then there are no chances of late seroconversion after three months because the window period for HIV also varies from 15 days to 3 months.

If the virus enters the body and infects it then 4th generation test is able to detect it after 2 weeks or even earlier so the negative result after 22weeks of infection is definitely reliable and 100% conclusive.

The reason for late seroconversion in that guy may be something related to technical or instrumental error what I can say because even with antibody test it is not possible after 3 months of infection.

You are 100% safe and free from HIV so no further test is required. Pin or needle sensations is related to anxiety or fear of HIV. Forget about the incident and move ahead in life. Do meditation or yoga for mental relaxation. Consider counselling services if needed after consulting some psychiatrist.

As your friend I will also advice to stay away from such unsafe sexual practices to prevent the future risk of HIV and other STDs. Be relaxed, don't think much and surely move on with your marriage plan.

Thank You
