Question: Hello Doctor ,
I have recently went for a Consultation with Dermatologist for my Dandruff and acute hairfall problem. The doctor has prescribed Sebowash and one more Shampoo for dandruff. He has also advised me to Apply Nadibact Plus oinment once in a day ( at night before sleep).
But when i searched for this oinment's usage on the web , i didnt not found any article saying this is for Dandruff.

So , please clarify me about the exact usage of his oinment and also let me know can i proceed with this and apply ?

thanks,

Brief Answer:
Nadibact usage

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

Nadibact is actually nadifloxacin which is a topical antibacterial and may have been prescribed for bumps that you may possibly be having in the scalp? Do you have any bumps in the scalp?

Regards

Hi Doctor ,

Thanks for the Quick response.

I use to have itchy sensation on my scalp starting from 2nd to 3rd day after my hair wash day and i use to get some dandruff on my hands if i itch over my head . Occasionally i can sense some inflammation in my scalp ( with blood) if i use to itch continuously. Please let me know if this helps.

Brief Answer:
Dandruff

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Yes, this is classical of dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. Since dandruff is bound to recur, therefore, to keep it under check you should use an antidandruff shampoo rather than a regular shampoo.

My choice of an antidandruff shampoo is 2% ketoconazole shampoo ( e.g Scalpe lotion), thrice weekly OR even daily, for 2-4 weeks. It is an antifungal and decreases malassezia counts (the yeast commonly associated with dandruff). Sebowash contains Fluocinolone acetonide (a topical steroid) in shampoo base and is a good option too. Since it is a topical steroid based shampoo, therefore it helps to decrease itching and inflammation associated with seborrheic dermatitis.

Dematologist usually combine sebowash with another shampoo to take care of both the factor i. e inflammation as well as the yeast, responsible for dandruff.

You are on the right treatment for dandruff. Nadibact can be applied once daily at night, in case you develop any bumps on the scalp. Nadibact is also prescribed for acne.
