Staff boils are cause by the germ staphylococcus. Treatment is basically by using antibiotics and draining any pus collection. Antibiotics commonly used to treat this are flucloxacillin. This can only be obtained through your doctor’s prescription. The dosage depends on age and body weight and would be determined at the time of prescription. Generally, it takes 7-10days to treat a staff boil which is sensitive to antibiotics. If this fails, then we will need to further investigate and make sure that the germ is not a resistant strain.
