Brief Answer:
It depends on the stage of Pancreatic cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
The prognosis of Pancreatic cancer depends on the stage of the disease.
If it was in early stage and resection was done, 20 to 25 patients out of 100 will survive for 5 years. If the disease is advanced, only 1 to 5 patients out of 100 will survive for 5 years.
Spread to Lymphnodes and distant organs will reduce the survival rate.
On an average, patient with Pancreatic cancer will survive for 18 to 20 months.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Brief Answer:
It could be a local disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
If the person has survived for more than 6 years indicate that he was operated in early stage. The disease has not spread to regional lymphnodes.
Any Cancer prognosis is measured by 5 year survival rate.
Periodic follow up and treatment will increase the life span.
Wish him good health.

Answered by Dr. Hari Charan Perigela (5 hours later)
Brief Answer:
It cannot be predicted.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am sorry to say that his long term survival cannot be predicted.
Spread to surrounding areas like intestines is not serious if it is recognised early and treated.
If possible please attach his latest CT Scan abdomen report and his specialist prescription , so that I can assess more clearly.
Wish him good health.
