What Is The Schedule For Typhoid Vaccination?

Question: Hi,
This query is for my 2 year old son: My son's DoB is 21-09-2012. The next vaccination due is Typhoid. I want to ask for this purpose:
1. Oral dose or Injection dose is required?
2. Will it be a single dose or oduble dose within two months?

injection one dose

Detailed Answer:
Hi
thanks for writing to us.
Typhoid vaccine is only injection above 2 years.
one dose only.
Oral is for above 6 years.
The latest vaccine typbar tcv is better in giving more than 10 years protection. No revaccination is required for this.

Other typhoid vaccines are protective only for 3 years and revaccination is required every 3 years

Just one more query: Is there any side effect of any of the two vaccinations (10/2 years) to the kids?
and what will be the approx cost of the two injections?

Brief Answer:
No side effects except mild fever

Detailed Answer:
No side effects except mild fever, swelling at injection site, which can be treated with hot fomentation and paracetamol.
Cost of typbar tcv is Rs 1800 INR
Cost of ordinary typhoid vaccine is around Rs 300 INR
