What Is The Reason For Occasional Irregular Periods?
Question: hi i am married before 2 months.i am trying to get my wife pregnant. my wife had period all this years is for just 30 days but for the last month she didn't get her period on time.so that we taught she is pregnant but on the 39th day she got her period again so why is this. and i need to also ask when will the ovulation time for this month will be. will it be on the 14th day or will get delayed because last month she has 39 days menstruation cycle. 28th Oct she got period.. Need help

I understand the issue well.
The reason for an occasional irregular period is most commonly stress. Other reasons are hormonal imbalances as well as ovarian cysts.
We are not worried if one or two cycles get delayed as this is not uncommon and most of the time it self corrects. If the problem persists then it is better to consult a gynecologist and get an examination and hormone tests as well as ultrasound examination as per the case.
If the period was delayed then we cannot predict the date of the next period and so it also becomes difficult to predict the exact date of ovulation. Also, day 14 is not the date of ovulation in every cycle. Very few women ovulate regularly on the same day. If her earlier cycles were 30 days then the most likely ovulatory day was day 16 rather than 14. So we always advice couples that are trying to conceive to have a sexual contact every alternate day from day 10-20 as any of the days may be an ovulatory day [ as this is the fertile period of the cycle] and maximum chances of pregnancy occur during these days with alternate day contact.
If you are trying to catch the ovulation time, it is better to use ovulation predicting kits that are available in the market [ brand name i sure kit]. Sonography may also be used to detect it.
So as of now please do not worry. Just try to keep contact between day 10-20 every alternate day for maximum chances of conception.
If she continues to have irregular periods, it is better to get her examined.
