Hi and welcome.
This is progressive disease that sooner or later causes renal damage and insufficiency despite medical therapy. Type 1 will in general cause failure of kidneys within 15 years after diagnosis in 90% of cases.Type 2 is even more aggressive and causes renal insufficiency after 10 years. After this,patient must continue with dialysis or have kidney transplantation and generally,lifetime is reduced for 10-15 years. Wish you good health.Regards
