Hi,

Thank you for your query.

The bilirubin level does not tell the seriousness of jaundice. It shows that you are developing jaundice.

Liver function has to be assessed with all of the following parameters:
1. Value of other enzyme levels pertaining to liver function like, alkaline phosphatase, SGOT, SGPT.
2. Cause of jaundice which may involve looking for hepatitis markers.
3. Ultrasonography findings of hepatic area.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction. Please do revert back in case you need any clarifications or would like to share more facts.

Wishing you an early recovery.
