Posted on Wed, 2 Jul 2014
Question: I have tried to get a prescription for Procort for my hemmoroids without any luck . I am insured with AARP as a secondary to Social security. I am 67 years old and have tried samples of Procort and it is the only cream that helps cure my hemmoroids. How much is Procort and how do I go about obtaining a supply?
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for asking!
I appreciate your concerns for procort and i want you to know that These are simple topical steroids and i am sure you can easily get a prescription for it.Just consult any GP and they will fix it for you. Also low strength preparations 0.5 and 1 % are available with out prescription and you can easily get it from any over the counter facility like Walmart etc.

Meanwhile All you need is diet and lifestyle modification. Warm sits baths and high fibrous diet like psyllium seeds(Metamucil) and methylcellulose (citrucel) A diet of at least 25g finer is recommended.
and trained toilet habits and stool softeners and topical agents like hydrocortisones, anaesthetic gels, suppositories, enema, foam etc.
Long term monitoring with weight loss preferences, avoiding sitting on toilet for long time, changing sedentary lifestyle to active and healthy one and hygiene of anorectal area will be the goals to reduce the trouble of constipation.
I hope it helps.Don't forget to close the discussion please.
