What Is The Cause And Treatment Of Fungal Infection On Toes?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Sep 2014
Question: Thank you! I came home from a boat trip a few weeks ago and noticed a small rash of small, hard red bumps on my big toe. They do not itch and are not painful. This morning I noticed a red line moving up my toe - almost an inch long with more bumps. What could this be?

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of fungal infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this rash that you have reported.

I have reviewed the information and the attached picture. This is suggestive of a fungal infection. I am however surprised that it does not itch as this is a typical feature of fungal infections. I will suggest that you apply miconazole 2% cream to this and if it fails to resolve within a week, then we may be looking at other unlikely causes like allergic reactions and other skin lesions.

In all, suggestive of a possible fungal infection. I will suggest miconazole and if symptoms don't regress within a week, other causes would be investigated.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Note: Hope the answers resolves your concerns, however for further guidance of skin related queries consult our Dermatologist.Click here to book a consultation
