Question: Running on day 7 of not feeling well. Started with slight dry cough Saturday more cough Sunday and Monday. Tuesday night had aching in my shin bones. Wednesday morning I woke up with 103 temp and hurt bad throughout my entire body. Slight runny nose been coughing not much mucus.went to the doctor 2 days ago did a nasal swab influenza came back negative but said it might be too late to show because I was beyond the acute phase. been running a low grade fever up to 100 XXXXXXX with alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen every 4 hours. Mostly comes on in the morning and lasts for about 5 hours with the chills. Feel nauseous and dizzy while the chills are coming on.Still running a low grade fever. Is this normal for the flu? feel better through the evening marginally getting fairly good sleep then in the morning it starts again. blood tests came back ok white blood count showed normal at 4.1. Doctor said this was typical of a virus. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
suggestive for a viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Considering all your symptoms and their evolution ,it is very indicative for a viral infection of upper respiratory airways. It might be a common cold or flu.
This are common symptoms of a viral infection.
Normal or low white blood cells are also indicative for viral infection.A bacterial or parasitic infection would cause a high level of WBC.
Usually it is a self limited condition that don't require specific treatment.
The infection will do it's course and then the symptoms will start to improve gradually until complete recovery.
You need to rest a lot ,eat healthy foods and a well balanced diet because your body needs energy.
-It is very important to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
-Take Ibuprofen or Paracetamol for the pain and fever.

These symptoms may last up to 2 weeks and sometimes more but commonly they resolve on their own without causing any complication.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind regards,
