What Is The Cause And Treatment For Tooth Infection?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: Two weeks ago I was treated for a dental infection at the bottom of a root in my front teeth. My dentist said it must have been from trauma because I didnt have a cavity in the tooth and my gums looked healthy (even through that tooth needed a root canal). So I was on amoxicillin until last Monday. Then four or five days ago I woke up with a fever blister on my lip even though I havent had a fever. Now today I woke up and I think I might have a uti because I have burning/stinging with urination. Whats the likelihood that there is some type of cancer causing all of this? Would these be considered recurrent infections? I had a CBC done, but that was three months ago. No bleeding/bruising. No fevers. My appetite is normal. No unintentional weight loss. No swollen lymph nodes. I have experienced sweatig at night for a few weeks. But theyre definitely not drenching, Ill just wake up and my chest, back, and under my hair on my neck will be moist. I used to sleep with a lot of blankets and since Ive removed blankets off the bed, theyve stopped. I also started my period and it stopped. Could this be leukemia or lymphoma? Whats the likelihood? No personal or family history of any type of cancer. 27/F. Scared.

Brief Answer:
tooth infection, Herpetic virusinfection,Acyclovir

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The tooth infection can be because of tooth infection secondary to trauma or attrition. Nothing to be panic. Consult a oral physician get a radiograph done. If it is tooth infection, get the tooth treated with Root canal treatment. If possible upload the images of the radiograph and the fever blister so that i can confirm the diagnosis.
The fever blister can be secondary to herpetic virus infection, even the micturation or burning urination can be secondary to herpetic virus infection or secondary to bacterial infection. Even though it is a self limiting condition, consult a gynecologist for the urinary tract infection and take a opinion.
If it is a viral infection, you can take a topical antiviral drugs like acyclovir. If it is a bacterial infection, you take a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacillin.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.

Ok, thank you for your response. I had a few xrays and a root canal on my tooth and drainage two weeks ago. The infection seems to be completely gone. My fever blister seems to be healing. I saw my OBGYN today for a urine dip. He said there was no bacteria or blood in my urine, so no infection. He felt my abdomen and pelvic area and said there were no masses felt or enlarged lymph nodes. But I still have a pressur and bloated feeling on the side of my ribs into my back on the left side. Would my OBGYN have felt it if my spleen was enlarged? He felt my abdomen under my ribs on the left and right side. He basically pressed down on the area. No pain when he pressed down. Could this be leukemia?e
