Brief Answer:
Yes, you will need to go to the ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Your blood pressure certainly requires urgent management so it is necessary to go to the ER and get it under control as soon as possible.

I could go on to explain the dangers of such high blood pressure like risk of sudden cardiac arrest or strokes, but I feel you are already aware of these, hence I urge you to get treated without delay.

Hope that answers your query, you are most welcome to revert to me once you are settled.

Wishing you speedy recovery and best of health.

Warm regards

I am on my way. I don't know what is causing it. I eat a vegan diet with no oil, salt, sugar, or processed foods

Brief Answer:
Hypertension is a multifactorial condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again, thank you for writing back to me.

Hypertension/high blood pressure is a multifactorial (Many causes) condition and in your case it is likely to be genetic predisposition playing the major part.

Other secondary causes such as pheochromocytoma need to be ruled out.

It is not easy to identify a single contributing factor for hypertension in any individual, as everything from genes to diet to work related stress can result in high blood pressure.

We would consider even a single reading of diastolic pressure of more than 100 to be highly significant, and if the first reading itself is shows a diastolic pressure of more than 110 mm of Hg, we call that malignant hypertension or accelerated hypertension and both these conditions require urgent care and treatment.

I hope this clears your doubt.

Wishing you good health.

Best regards
