Brief Answer:
it is hypersensitivity

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

What you have suffered after taking first dose of gabapentin is called idiosyncratic reaction to drug. In simple words it is hypersensitivity to drug. Any individual can suffer from such type of reaction to any drug. Whenever an individual takes any drug for the first time he/she may suffer from such abnormal reaction and there are no predictive factors. Better to avoid that drug again.

Other possibility is drug interaction. You have taken gabapentin with other drugs fro migraine. There can be drug interaction between gabapentin and the drugs you have taken with it. Please let me know which drugs have you taken with gabapentin (or with maximum 4 hours of gap) for comments on possibility of drug interaction.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,

Dr.Chintan Solanki.
