Question: hi doc..
My Consulting Doc injected Fertigyn 5000 at the start of treatment. My last pregnancy almost 1 year back ended with sudden feotal death at start of seven month with no cardiac activity. At that time, i was non diabetic.
Now after one year , i am again pregnant,So i was prescribed by current doctor with test like
1.1.     Phospholipid (Cardiolipin) Antibodies, IgG and IgM, Serum
2.LUPOS Anticoagulant Test
3.HBA 1C
Any things more i need to do for safe pregnancy.. please clear about the test and Fertigyn5000 injection. My Doctor is saying if required after reports results, i will be given daily Fertigyn 5000 till delivery that cost around Rs. 500 per injection that painfull and too much costly Is it good for my case? Brief Answer:
Fertigyn is not given until delivery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Ms. XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query.

Firstly, I would like to know if any post mortem was done on the aborted fetus to know the cause of the cardiac arrest.

Fertigyn injection is usually given when insufficient hormone production is suspected to sustain the pregnancy. This is mostly given until the placenta takes over, between 14-16 weeks. Therefore, it is obvious that the cost and duration of treatment are lesser than you expected.

The tests that have been ordered are to know the cause of the fetal demise in the previous pregnancy. This will help take the necessary precaution if needed.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Thanks for your nice opinion...
NO postmortem was conducted on dead baby. It was all sudden event.
I want to ask doctor that i just went to my current gynecologist today for Ist time, without reports and checks, she prescribed and injected Fertigyn 5000 injection.
(I checked with Prega News on 25/12/2014 and found positive and consulted with doc today.)
my doctor is saying that i might be injected with Fertigyn 5000 everyday. After seeing the previous discharge report, she said that same event can happen any time during this pregnancy so she is prescribing. please clear my doubts. Should i consult other gynecologist in my area. I am living in New XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Please get a second opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Sorry for the delay.

I think that the status of your current pregnancy should be checked through a trans-vaginal sonogram and a few necessary investigations like hormone levels, TORCH titres etc. done before prescribing any medication. It is essential to establish a healthy intrauterine pregnancy.

Also, you do not need an injection of Fertigyn everyday, even if there is established hormone insufficiency, which has not been done in your case. Sudden fetal demise can have several causes like genetic defects, infections, thyroid insufficiency, abnormal glucose levels, pregnancy induced hypertension, abruption etc.

In the current scenario, I would suggest a second opinion by a specialist in high risk pregnancy. Also, please avoid any strain including sexual intercourse and take as much rest as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Please contact if you need any more information. I will be ready to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
