What Does Vomiting After Each Feed By An Infant Indicate?
Give some antiemetic and watch for signs of dehydration
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Fever with vomiting in this age is can be due to some viral infection causing gastritis.
As there are 4 vomiting episodes in a row,
I would like to give some antiemetic like domperidone with some acid reducing agent like esomeprazole. He may need these medications for next 3-4 days.
Please get it prescribed by your physician as these are prescription medicines.
If vomiting persists even after giving these medicines I would suggest to get him clinically examined by a pediatrician. An injectable antiemetic may be needed if he does not tolerate the medicine orally.
Continue feeding and give acetaminophen drops for fever.
I would like to know if there is any urinary difficulty as urinary tract infection can also cause fever and vomiting in this age and a urine test may be needed to rule out UTI.
Another less common causes of fever with vomiting is infection in the brain. Here baby may have abnormal behavior, excessive cry/irritability.
If vomiting persists, baby gets irritable/ lethargic or there is decreased urinary frequency get him to a pediatrician for clinical evaluation and proper management.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more query.
