What Does Urine Retention And Aletered PSA Levels Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jun 2014
Question: Two months back in ultrasound scan it was found that grade one prostatomegaly.i taking medicines from qualified ayurvedic physician.at that time my PSA LEVELS are 0.82 ng/ml.iam male 51 yrs.

iam attaching latest ultrasound scan reports.it is saying that inhomogenious echotechture. Now the PSA levels reduced to 0.56 ng/ml.

right now i have only two problems- 1.after passing urine one or 2 drops remaning in penis and after finishing urination it is coming out.POST VOID Retention seems to be as per scan insignificant.
2.in middle during my sleep i am waking up once to pass urine iam not feeling any urgency but past two months iam lacking sound sleep.

ayurvedic physician says nothing to worry with medicines you can slowly and steadly recover.

my concern is

1.inhomogenious means only bph ?heterogenious and inhomogenious means same ?

2. even through psa levels says 0.56 ng/ml.can herbal medicines mask PSA levels.how may days before you need to stop herbal drugs before going for PSA screening.

iam non smoker-teetotaller-vegitarian -weight is 70 kgs

any further advice ?

Brief Answer:
assessment and physician referral

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX...
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
You are having symptoms of dysuria which can be due to urinary tract infection, prostatic enlargement.
Ayurveda medicines are highly unlikely to interfere or alter the results of PSA values but still they are hardly useful for such cases.
The prostate inhomogeneities and heterogeneity refer to same changes.
You should consult a local physician to rule out an infection and whether you need a surgery for prostate.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.

Brief Answer:
refer to a surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Welcome back.
Checking frequent the PSA levels leads you no where.
Your levels are not too high but your symptoms are suggesting prostatic hypertrophy.
A urosurgeon should be consulted for further management.
There are good drugs which can relieve symptoms and reduce PSA levels.
You may need surgery if response to drugs is poor.
