Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Interruption of antimicrobial intake (Macrobid i.e nitrofurantoin in your case) makes the causative organism of urinary tract infection resistant.

Take an antibiotic as per the culture sensitivity report of urine, if already done & available and continue uninterrupted for at least 05 days.

Alternatively send urine for culture sensitivity & start fluoroquinolones (ofloxacin or norfloxacin) and wait for the report (usually available in 3 days time) for further guidance.

Standard practice:
Patient-initiated therapy involves supplying the patient with materials for urine culture and self-medication with a course of antibiotics at the first symptoms of infection. The urine for culture is refrigerated and delivered to the physician's office for confirmation of the diagnosis.
AZO only can be of little help except some urinary pain relief .
