Brief Answer:
Need not worry it will be ok.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr.XXXXX,

I can understand your concern regardind your disease Thymoma grade 3, removed from your chest followed by radiotherapy, and now chest tube kept.

My full sympathy is with you, for your disease condition and experincing pain due to it.

I would like to inform you that thymoma is a most common tumour in the chest , and it requires treatment because it causes lot of discomfort in chest locally as well as it causes a disease called Myasthnia Gravis leading to wide variety of body discomfort.

Some people are symotom free and carry out daily activity just on medicines.

As you have undergone surgery and got the tumour removed followed by radiotherapy for total clearence of tumour, it looks to be preety good.

So now radiation is given besides ablating tumour cells radiation also cause some unwanted side effects like inflamation locally around tumour which is ok that much is expected.

It is also causing secretion in your pleura, this is also expected for which chest tube is put, I my opinion this is also ok.

Since the secretion is 250 cc, chest tube has to be there, till the secretion comes down to very less say about 10 cc, and or your lung appears normal on chest x ray then only it should be removed.

As your detailed history and investigation is not known to me , but I can exoect that the drain must have to be kept ther for not less than 30 more days.

Need not to worry, be happy that all the tumour bulk is removed and now your life will be good and you will be symptom and pain free now onwards.

Hope I cleared all your doubt in detail, if any further query or doubt please dont hesitate to write me back.

Wishing you speedy recovery and good health,

Regards,

Thanks.
