Question: I went to dentist and was prescribed cephlexon for a tooth infection.I took it for a few weeks, now I have white spots and red spots on my gums.I have been rinsing with an antifungal for a week with no results. My doctor said it was a fungal infection. After looking at pictures of gum cancer,it looks the same. What is your opinion?

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern. I would strongly insist you to upload an image of the affected area of the gum. Based on that I would definitely guide you further.

It is not a good idea to continue an antibiotic for a few weeks. Prolonged use of antibiotics can give rise to fungal infections. I would insist you to use Clenora Gel or Candid (clotrimazole) mouth paint topically over your gums. I will also insist you to take curd or yogurt since it contains beneficial bacteria which should help in replenishing the normal intestinal flora and should help.

I would await your response.
