What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: I was 6 weeks 1 day pregnant at my last ultrasound. The Ultrasound Tech found the baby (3mm) and gestational sac was 14mm. The babies heart rate was only 82 BPM. I have also had my blood work taken regularly because I have had two previous miscarriages. The numbers are always rising but not doubling. The last counts went from 15,100 - 20,500 in 3 days. Do you feel that these are both really bad signs and I should expect another miscarriage?
Also, I have had 2 missed miscarriages (both ended with D & C's), one birth (Son) who is now 4.5 years old. I had a delayed post partum hemorrhage at 2.5 weeks post delivery. I needed a blood transfusion and an emergency D & C with this. I had Melanoma Insitu 2 years ago, it was removed.

Brief Answer:
Low chances of miscarriage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The rising numbers of HCG suggests that the pregnancy is still viable. The presence of a normal yolk sac is more confirmatory of a normal pregnancy. The low heart beat of the baby is worrisome. It is best to take proper progesterone supplements and low dose aspirin after consulting with your gynecologist to improve the placental circulation. The chances of miscarriage are low but cannot be completely ruled out.
