Brief Answer:
Low amniotic fluid levels

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The ultrasound is completely normal except low amniotic fluid levels.
To increase the amniotic fluid levels, you should increase daily fluid intake to 3-4 litres a day, increase high protein diet, and take adequate rest.
This will help to increase the amniotic fluid levels.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thank you doctor.. is there any adverse effect to the fetus at this level of fluid?.. what value would be risky and what are the associated risks?.. can significant improvement be made with fluids and rest?

Brief Answer:
Less than 5 is risky

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, low fluid levels can lead to restricted fetal movements and difficulty in normal delivery.
Levels of AFI less than5 are risky.
Rest, high protein diet and increased fluid intake improves the amniotic fluid levels definitely.

Hi ma'am.. this is a followup on my previous question.. I'm measuring 30 weeks now.. my gynac put me.on complete bed rest and fluids with protein supplements.. we went for a repeat ultrasound today at a different centre to cross check findings.. AFI has gone from 8.5 cms to 9.1 cms which is a relief.. baby growth is still on track measuring 1.4 kgs.. the placenta last week showed grade 2 maturity and this week the radiologist mentioned grade 2-3 changes and accelerated maturity.. what does this mean? Is it a major reason to worry? Will it tough to have a full term pregnancy and is there any risk to baby?
Also the doppler readings last week were UA PI 1.1, and MCA PI 1.75.. this week it is UA PI 0.8 and MCA PI 1.1.. I am little alarmed to see the reduction i don't know if the difference is coz the ultrasound was done from two different places.. could you please explain what this means to me? I've been on L-Arginine supplement..

Brief Answer:
Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, there is nothing to worry.
AFI is increasing. The fetal weight is almost same, which can be so because there are slight variations between two radiologists.
Moreover, Doppler is completely normal and in range.
Placenta is grade 2-3 , which is normal for this gestation.

Thank you maam that's a major relief.. the radiologist mentioned accelerated maturity of placenta many times so I kinda freaked out.. your words have been reassuring.. fetal movements are very regular still.. are very frequent scans necessary now?
