Brief Answer:
More details needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have checked the attachment. However I need to know the specific length of pregnancy when the test was done. Please let me know the LMP (last menstrual period) date. Furthermore, please confirm if a fetal ultrasonogram to check for nuchal translucency has been done.

I will await your response.

Hi Doctor,

LMP is 15/6/2016. Test was done on 22/10/2016. Before this TIFFA scan has been done.

Brief Answer:
Further correlation required with 20 week scan

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The triple test has been done at 17 weeks. With Alpha feto protein levels slightly raised at 17 weeks it is too early to comment upon the risk of Down syndrome. A fetal anomaly scan with test for nuchal translucency needs to be checked at 20 weeks. If the results are fine, you need not worry. But if the results are ambiguous or show a risk, the next step would be to go for an amniocentesis or choriocentesis. Since these are invasive procedures you need to discuss the risks with your doctor before opting for such tests.

If apprehensive, it might be a good idea to get an opinion of a specialist in fetal medicine (after the fetal anomaly scan at 20 weeks).

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
