Question: Hello,
Me and my wife are planning a baby so we thought of having all the tests done before we start our family. Her Gynae advised me to go for Semen Analysis as well. The sperm count was 64 million and morphology was less than 1% and found some pus cells 4-5 hpf as well. She advised me to get in touch with fertility doctor.
Fertility doctor did semen culture and scrotal doppler test and found i am infected with E-coli infection. He started some medications Initially Levoflox , Alfugress and Alene. After 1 month again he did semen culture and semen analysis. Morphology has improved but infection still there. He put me on injectons of Amikacin for 6 days and tablets like Rulizo, Blespa and Alfugress but still same result.
He has now started prostate massage and trying to flush out the infection.

Please suggect what should i do ?

Brief Answer:
Pus cells are not high

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about semen infection.

Semen infection which is not healing could be due to problems like diabetes. I hope you have been tested for diabetes.

Prostatic massage followed by repeated semen culture and sensitivity test is the way forward to treat this. If semen parameters have improved, you can ignore infection.

Upto 10 puscells /HPF is normal. It need not be treated. You don't have such high puscells to be worried.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thank you for your response.

Will this infection not affect my fertility to have baby ? Can we try for a baby now or we should wait for some time. The doctor is saying if prostate massage does not successfull to remove e-coli infection, the only option left is IVF .

Brief Answer:
Try for baby

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This infection is not severe. You can conceive with this semen report. There is nothing to worry about it.

You can try for pregnancy now.

You don't need IVF for this reason. Try naturally or IUI for sometime.
