Question: My Echo cardiography - colour doppler report concludes as "Good left ventricular systolic function with reduced diastolic compliance. No pulmonary arterial hypertension" I am 47+ years old male. What does this mean?

I have gone through your query. Our heart is elastic and contracts and relaxes alternately. The heart contracts during systole and ejects the blood. Your left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is 70% which is a very good figure. During diastole the heart relaxes as it fills with blood again to be ejected again in the next cycle. The compliance of the heart helps in the passive filling of the heart. In your case the compliance is slightly low. This compliance comes down with age but nothing needs to be done about it. However, regular morning walk would help in increasing the compliance of the heart.
