What Does This MRI Report Of Breast Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: I am a 35 year old female with strong family hx of BC. In October, I notice single duct green discharge in L breast. I saw a surgeon who order Breast MRI. The results shows a prominent 12mm axillary lymph node in L with no clear fatty hilum is seen on precontrast or postcontrast image. R breast on T2 weighted images show a heterogenous oval mass with high signal stir images measuring 11 mm in largest dimension. This has rapid and persistant enhancement with internal nonenhancing septations. I am scheduled for an US with poss bx. Should I be worried.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Going by description of MRI scan there does not appear to be cause for concern. It could possibly be either fibroadenoma or duct papilloma(likely to be benign lesion ). The lesion is very small and also lymph node size is not significant.
Final diagnosis will only depend on Ultrasound guided Core biopsy.

Do keep me updated about the report.

Not having a clear fatty hilum is not of concern, the size does not bother me.

Brief Answer:
It could also be due to mild inflammation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dear Ms

Loss of fatty hilum could also be due to inflammation of lymph node. Do wait for biopsy report. So presently there is no cause for concern.

Rest be assured

Take care
