Brief Answer:
Disc space reduced at L1-L2.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the reports attached.
There seems to be a reduction in the disc space at L1-L2 level. There can be a nerve root compression also associated with the reduction. This can be caused due to repetitive stress and strain of the spine or a history of injury in the area or an infection. It is best to consult an orthopedician and get yourself further investigated for infections.
Valium will not help in elevating your mood. It can help to decrease your anxiety a little bit. A physical examination and laboratory examination is needed to rule out physical causes of major depression. Mental status examination is also necessary to assess severity of depression. Since the anti depressants are prescription drugs, an in person consultation with psychiatrist is necessary for treatment.
I hope this answers your query.

"There seems to be a reduction in the disc space at L1-L2 level. There can be a nerve root compression also associated with the reduction". There was an injury at the affected area. I hit my lower back on a desk. But, In lamens terms, what is "reduction" and what is "nerve root compression"? Additionally, would that cause the pain I have in my back? Also, what would the treatment be?

Lastly, were there any other areas you noted, because the S1 looked odd to me.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If the disc space becomes lesser than normal due to injury it can compress the nerves coming out of the spine which causes a pain along the nerve usually radiating to the leg. It will also cause a back pain.
The main treatment of such problem is bed rest along with pain killers and muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants can help with your symptoms if used in appropriate dosage in combination with a potent analgesic. You can get these prescribed from your orthopedician.
Local analgesic gels and hot fomentation may provide a short term relief. You can use analgesic gels like Volini gel. Exercise is not advisable in the times of acute pain.
Using an LS contour belt of appropriate size might be helpful in providing support to back muscles.
Physiotherapy also plays a major role in treating such conditions. Epidural steroid injections have been used if oral pain killers are not very effective.
S1 looks almost normal. No bony abnormality is detectable fron the images. You can attach the radiologist's report also for a better evaluation.
Hope my answer is helpful.
