Brief Answer:
Please tell some details

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I understand your concerns well and I's surely like to address them at best but I need to know a few datails beforehand-
1)What is the frequency of fits-everyday,once a week--like that?
2)Was your baby having fits while this EEG was recorded? If not,how much time had passed between the last fit and this EEG?
3)EEG report show some discharges-Are these discharges more in sleep EEG or awake EEG?
4)Please tell the each detail of what happens in a typical fit-with particular reference to hands, neck, eyes, lips and mouth? Is the consciousness lost during the fit?

These discharges may be pointing towards 'Temporal lobe epilepsy'.
Please follow up with above details so that I can answer this well further.

Brief Answer:
Any complications during birth or neonatal period?History of prolonged cry?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

The description of the event along with the EEG findings in consideration, gives an impression that this is possibly 'Temporal lobe epilepsy'.

Is there any history of perinatal or neonatal complication?Delayed cry of the child after birth? These may predispose to seizures.

In the current situation,a MRI of brain will be of help to look out for structural abnormalities.Meanwhile,a trial of antiepileptic therapy should be started and the response should be observed.

There is no conclusive evidence, that XXXXXXX phone radiation causes seizures.

If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Brief Answer:
MRI is better investigation for Epilepsy evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

MRI Brain should be done for evaluation as MRI is a better investigation as compared to CT for epilepsy evaluation. It can detect abnormalities which CT can miss.

Temporal lobe epilepsy is a form of epilepsy in infants,in which abnormal electrical discharges originate from the temporal lobe of brain.

It can be managed with antiepileptic medicines. However, exact prognosis or severity depends on the underlying disease or pathological changes in the brain.

Brief Answer:
A video EEG will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Of course,it can't be denied that infants can have discharges in their EEG which may seem to be abnormal. But,interpretation has to be made in view of clinical symptoms. As you mentioned, turning of neck(mouth) and twisting of hands occur during the events, which may be indicative of seizures, especially in presence of abnormal activity on EEG.However,if the pediatric neurologist has observed the event himself/herself and then made an opinion of it,not being a seizure;in that scenario-her/his opinion is of greater importance.

Besides,a prolonged video EEG will be of help in this situation, where EEG changes can be observed during the event.else, you can do video recordings of the events/fits and show them to your pediatric neurologist for opinion.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
