What Does The Following Ultrasound Scan Report During Early Pregnancy Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 13 Apr 2017
Question: I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant as my last period was 28th January 2017. I booked a scan to make sure everything was ok and I am really alarmed and sorry I ever went. I had an ultrasound scan which has shown a gestational sac and a yolk but no baby. I have to be rescanned next week but have been told to prepare that it maybe a miscarriage. I have no pain, no bleeding or anything. The sac is slightly shaped abnormal. Do you see a pregnancy can go ahead or do you see pregnancy end? The sonographer said I am showing 5 to 6 weeks, how does that work when they say to calculate from first day of last period. I do have irregular periods ranging from 24 days to 36 days. Please help me asap I am worried sick.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for trusting us with your health concerns
I have seen the attached report and as per the written report it is difficult to comment if it is an abortion or an early pregnancy since you had irregular periods
I want to see the image of the sac if possible to advise you better.
But in general in case there hasn't been any bleeding so far then generally nothing to worry and we can take it as early pregnancy (of course not absolutely)
So just wait for nest scan and take rest and medicine as advised.
Wish you the best of health

Brief Answer:
Depends on day of ovulation

Detailed Answer:
I understand dear but in doesn't depend on date of last period and is rather dependent on date of ovulation which cannot be predicted now and just presumed to be late seeing the growth of baby
And I do understand your despair but even if it is not a viable pregnancy then there must have been some problem with the formation of genes of baby which has caused this early loss (if at all it is)
So just take rest and hope for the best
