Question: Light postmenopausal bleeding. Recent ultrasound results:
"The endometrial canal echo complex is 6.9 mm in thickness. There are small cystic regions interspersed in the endometrial canal echo complex. Ovaries are within normal limits in appearance." Am waiting for results from endometrial biopsy. What is the likelihood of cancer vs other less serious conditions?

Brief Answer:
need not necessarily be cancer

Detailed Answer:
You need to understand that all causes of endometrial bleeding is not due to cancer. Though endometrial thickness more than 5mm in a postmenopausal lady mandates endometrial biopsy, the chances of malignancy is less than 10%. Other causes of bleeding are also seen including fibroids which are benign. In fact benign causes are more common than malignancy. So don't worry
