What Does The Following Abdominal Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Posted on Wed, 26 Apr 2017
Question: I received very helpful advice from Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX on 2/23/17 regarding hypo or hyperglycemic reactions following hiatal hernia surgery on 11/07/16. I have followed his advice and just received results from an ultra sound on my abdomen. It shows I have a small mass on the pancreas and a undisturbed gallstone in the gallbladder. This appears to coincide with his suggestion that I might be experiencing insulinoma. My family physician is out with a family emergency however his nurse has given me the results of the ultra sound and recommended I see a gastroenterologist. Unfortunately, I am away from home headed for CA. I am very near XXXXXXX AZ where I would like to see a physician. Can you give me more insight to insulinoma and/or make further recommendations. I have been testing my blood sugar with the following results: 97-100 is rate during fasting. Two hours after eating = 84, 54, & 64. During an episode = 154 & 120. If I eat something i.e. orange, juice or a variety of food, I finally calm down.

Brief Answer:
Can be insulinoma or benign or malignant mass. Please go for CECT.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HCM for query.
Yes,The mass can be insulinoma or a benign or malignant tumour.
CECT abdomen should be done followed by ERCP(Type of MRI) to reach the exact diagnosis.
Fluctuation in levels of blood sugar and direct response of symptoms to intake of carbohydrate rich fluids also favours insulinoma.
However Ultrasound is a preliminary test and a proffessional advice on the nature of mass(Whether benign or malignant) can be given only after superior investigations like CECT abdomen.

Please attach the picture and reports of ultra sound want to go through them once.Have to see the location of mass, Whether its in head body or tail.
Waiting.
