Brief Answer:
Conservative treatment should be continued.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

I examinated the reports you uploaded too.

Disc bulge only at one level is consistent with the first stage of herniated disc disease.

MRI findings justify clinical and neurologic findings.

First stage of herniated disc disease is treated conservatively and treatment consists on few days rest in exacerbated pain periods, NSAID drugs ( Ibuprofen eg.),
physical therapy with the aim of strengthening cervical muscles and reducing joint loading ( stretch exercises).

Avoiding lifting weights and soft cervical collar for a couple of weeks when standing, traveling or walking together with warm procedures on painful areas of neck, should help improve symptoms.

Periodic follow up clinically and by imaging is needed too.

Breast cysts seem to be benign and there is no need to worry about them.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Best regards.

she has tried ibuprofen (nurofen zavance) many times and she said that does not seem to help at all.. however pain subsides sometimes and helps her sleep when she takes codeine (panadeine forte).
however the GP has prescribed Lyrica. And with lyrica she feels really drowsy and cold in her muscles... do u feel the need of nerve conduction studies or nerve compression test to be carried out.. as the GP said that might help to determine the problem..
my wife's biggest question is what would be the best sleeping position ..which would help her sleep ..??

Brief Answer:
Nerve conduction study could help.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

A nerve conduction study ( EMG) could help further in assessing the nature of nerve disfunction ( motor or sensory nerve suffering).

If there is predominance of sensory nerve suffering, Lyrica is okay.

About sleep problems there are appropriate pillows on market to ease sleeping of the patients with cervical herniated disc disease and your wife should choose one.

In my opinion, a possible treatment way of both pain and sleep problems is short term use of Amytriptiline.

Since it is a prescription drug, there's need to discuss with your wife's GP about its use.

Hope I helped you.

Take care.
