Brief Answer:
Don't worry repeat scan in a month.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

The transverse diameter of ventricle means the horizontal size of the ventricles which are nothing but normal fluid filled spaces inside brain.

In many such scans before birth it might show as increased but repeat scans might actually show normal size.

I suggest you to repeat the ultrasound scan next month to see if size is above normal limits.

If still within normal range don't worry.

If size increases, it means developing baby has hydrocephalus which can be treated after birth with shunt surgery. With latest surgical advances don't worry. This can be easily corrected.

Wishing your yet to be born child good health.

Dr Arun
