Question: Me and my wife are trying for baby from past 1 and half year. I'm 32 year old and wife is 24 Year old.

I have issue with my sperm motility:

Total Ejaculate: 169 million
sperm conc/mill: 65 mill/ml
Progressive: 11%
Non Progressive: 18
Immotile: 71%
ROS: 1102 RLU/SEC/MIllion sperm
DFI=50%

We tried IUI, but didnt get success.

Even my wife seems to have a problem with follicles. Her follicles size is less than 10mm in follicular maturation studies even after 4 HMG shots.

Now my doctor is advising for IVF. But im more concerned about my wife follicle growth.

Please give me your suggestion, still we can go ahead for IVF with follicle size < 10mm.

Brief Answer:
You can go for IVF

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) IVF involves strong injections and larger doses of injections. Though the follicles size was small <10 during IUI, it will increase during IVF.

2) Your motility wont be a problem for IVF.

3) Meanwhile stop smoking and alcohol if you have habits.

4) Do exercise regularly and lose weight if overweight. This will help in imnproving motility.

I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.

Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for your reply Doctor.

Is there any natural way to increase follicular growth using food/supplements ?

Actually we are not financially stable to go for IVF, still we are thinking because of not conceiving.

I had smoking habit and used to smoke 1-2 per day. Now I quit that habit.

Wanted to know, still we have chance to have a baby naturally without going for IVF?

Please suggest a suppliments/tablets to improve sperm motility and sperm morphology.

How long it will take to improve sperm quality after quit smoking and taking medications to improve it.

Thanks..

Brief Answer:
Life style changes help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It takes about 6 months for sperm motility to increase after you have stopped smoking.

Quit smoking completely to see the advantage in 6 months. You don't need any medicines as your count is good.

Make lifestyle changes I suggested which will help you.
