What Does Right Sided Numbness And Tingling In Face And Arms Indicate?
Question: Hello,
I am looking for a second opinion.
Yesterday I've been having a pretty sever headache all day that I could not relief with painkillers. In the evening I felt the urge to move my bowels. As I was sitting on the toilet, after about thirty minutes of nonproductive hard straining, I started to feel very hot and started to sweat profusely. Then a wave of dizziness, almost as if I was going to faint, and nausea. I attempted to get off the toilet but found myself unable to stand. I tried calling for help but couldn't speak. I am not entirely sure how long exactly this last, I am guessing no longer than ten minutes before I was able to call my partner and get up with her help.
After it passed everything went back to normal, except a very faint numbness on the right side of my face and a pins and needles feeling in my right leg/arm.
It was suggested to me that i simply fainted. But this numbness and pins and needles feeling is still present today which is why I am looking for a second opinion.
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi B
I am Dr Saumya Mittal
I will try to answer your query
You see, the typical feature you mentioned, right sided numbness and tingling, involving upper as well as lower arm could suggest a stroke. I would definitely suggest that you get an MRI done. The history of hypertension and diabetes further contribute to the possibility. So have it done as soon as possible.
The other features- straining, vertigo, inability to get up- all can also be explained by the possibility of straining induced vasovagal symptom
I have suggested the MRI to make sure that the most serious possibility is ruled out
Best of luck
Dr Mittal
