Posted on Tue, 26 May 2015
Question: Hi there. My 2 year old fell off my bed and got a heavy nosebleed for literally 10 seconds it stopped then. He cried initially but was happy for me to clean his nose. Is in good form since but I'm just worried because it was quite heavy. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Please watch closely for below mentioned symptoms and if yes then go to ER

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Your two year old is too small to tell any symptoms by himself.

2. PLEASE WATCH FOR THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS OVER NEXT 24 HOURS
(i) crying continuously without provocation
(ii) irritability
(iii) not taking feeds
(iv) vomiting
(v) increased sleep
(vi) fever and lethargy
(Vii) repeat nose bleeding

3. If he shows any one or more of the above listed symptoms then you must take him to the ER immediately for clinical evaluation and a CT scan to look for head injury might be required.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
