What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: Hi,

Periods for the patient aged 49 years has stopped since 16 months. Suddenly after 16 months, bleeding started again.

When we consulted, Doctor recommended for a Ultra sound scan and in the reports everything seems to be normal. But as per Doctor, reports are not clear and asked to repeat the scanning and produce reports and Doctor even told that this will cause cancer.

Current from last week bleeding has been stopped. Am uploading prescription and US reports

We have the following Queries(Please do reply inline to the queries or point-wise):

1. Is it expected for it be started even after 16 months.
2. Will it lead to cancer as per Doctor's info.
3. The Scanning prescribed in the report, is it simple Ultra Sound scanning or any advance scanning(so that we can reperform scanning from other sources)
4. What precautions has to be taken at this stage.

Brief Answer:
My answers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Thanks for the query,
Went through the attachments. There was an opinion to rule out cervical cancer. My answers in line.

1. Is it expected for it be started even after 16 months.

The new bleeding should not be considered as periods and should be treated as post menopausal bleeding. All post menopausal bleeding should be investigated till the cancer chance is negative.

2. Will it lead to cancer as per Doctor's info.

All vaginal bleeds should be seriously investigated till it is proven otherwise.

3. The Scanning prescribed in the report, is it simple Ultra Sound scanning or any advance scanning(so that we can reperform scanning from other sources)

Get the pap smear done first and if required a cone biopsy of the cervix. Get the Ultrasound scanning done again.

4. What precautions has to be taken at this stage.

Early intervention and do not delay the doctors attention till the contrary is proved.

What type of Ultrasound scanning is to be done(Abdominal or Pelvis)?
