What Does My Follicular Study Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: Im 30 y ,having PCOS. Husband semen analysis is normal. Married 1 year ago and now trying for a baby, undergoing treatment.

Doc suggested SIPHENE 100 mg for 5 days.

Done Follicular study on 7th day.Result says right ovary dominant is 9.3 mmx 7.9 mm.

Left ovary dominant is 9x6 mm. Endometrial thickness 6.4 mm. No fluid in POD.

On day 7 and 8, doc suggested to take injection PERSINAL 75IU MENOTROPHIN.

Again on 11th day, a scan has done and it says Right ovary F1 =13x12 and F2=8x6 mm.

Left ovary F1 is 18x15 mm. Endometrial thickness 11.6 mm and no fluid in POD.

On 11th day , taken injection SIFASI 5000IU.
And said that couple should undergo intercourse in the next 2 days, as many times as possible.

Now we read much about multiple pregnancy in cases like this. What are the chances of multiple births based on the above results.

Can all the follicules ruptures in one cycle.

For past 3 months , using a tablet CHIRO CYST.
Duphaston was also used for 2 cycles.

Are we on the right track.?

Brief Answer:
You are on right track.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply :

1) There is possibility of multiple pregnancy in such cycles where multiple follicle development has taken place.

2) But chances of successful pregnancy in such cycles is also around 10 percent only.

3) Therefore trying for multiple follicles increases the chance of pregnancy by many folds. Yes this also increases chance of multiple pregnancy.

4) You are in right track.

5) Go ahead with IUI (intrauterine insemination) treatment if you don't conceive this cycle.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thanks for the reply.
Pls clarify In our case, whether multiple pregnancy chances are less or conceiving itself is less.
Was wondering abt the success rate although multiple follicules are present.
Why SIFASI 5000IU is prescribed. Is it for rupturing the egg.

Brief Answer:
It is for rupturing egg

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Sifasi is for rupturing egg.

Multiple pregnancy chance is low in your situation as there appears to be only one dominant follicle.

On 16th evening around 7 PM ,I have taken SIFASI injection. Now today again went for scan and the scan result shows
Right ovary F1 16x 11 mm and F2 8x5 mm
Left ovary F1 21 x15 mm
No Fluid in POD
Thickness 14.3 mm
We are confused ...SIFASI is for rupturing the egg and it is now more than 48 hrs..we have interacted these 2 days and still scan is showing follicules are growing...
Pls help us in understanding the situation...
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Free fluid not necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Ovulation might have happened. Free fluid is not the only indication.

Size of smaller follicle might increase and ovulate later.

I suggest you start trying for pregnancy. The follicle might become Corpus luteum and increase in size.

You can repeat another dose of Sifasi injection to increase the ovulation chances if not ovulated.
