What Does My Colonoscopy Result Report Indicate?
Question: Earlier today I had a colonoscopy. I had one 10 years ago and it was clear.
Today they found one large polyp. The result and picture did not tell the size/dimension. The doctor removed it, cauterized the area and placed two clips.
I have read that a large polyp usually means cancer.
I won't get results for 2 weeks.
I am rather worried and would like your opinion or thoughts.

Thanks for posting query at HCM.
Went through your query and understood your concern.
Firstly, be sure that POLYPS are BENIGN (noncancerous) lesions.
Following gross factors during colonoscopic examination determine if a polyp has a tendency to become malignant ( cancer).
Polyp size - large or small
surface - smooth or rough, villous appearance or nonvillous
anatomy - sessile or pedunculated
bleeding or non-bleeding
Large, sessile, bleeding, villous adenoma has a tendency to become malignant.
adenoma is a large polyp greater than 2cm in Diameter.
Anyhow, in your case, its a SINGLE LARGE POLYP, which has been removed entirely.
A large polyp, regardless if its an adenoma or not, which has been removed, usually warrants that there is NO malignant lesion in that anatomical site(colon).
Therefore, you need NOT worry.
Whatever the reports say about the polyp , it has been resected and most likely NO risk of cancer.
