Question: Can you please tell me if you think I will require surgery. My M.D. referred me to surgeon. The surgeon stated I will have to go through Pain Management first. My doctor states he thinks i will need surgery in near future. What do you think? Here are the results: The conus medullaris extend inferiorly to the L1 vertebral level. ventrical indentation up the thecal sac and spinal cord at T8-T9 level with narrowing of the T7-8 and T8-9 intervertabral disc space. I also have a ventral right paramedian indentation up thecal sac at T6-T7 level. At T5-6 there is a left paramedian small focal disc protusion which indents the thecal sac without coming into contact with spinal cord. The T6-7 also demonstartes an incompletely visualized left paramedian disc protrusion which indents thecal sac. At T7-8 there is left paramedian posterior disc bulge which indents the thecal sac without appaearing to come into contact with spinal cord. The T9-T9 level demonstrates a diffuse annular posterior disc bulge which indents the thecal sac and produces some effacement upon ventral spinal cord with CSF observed besteen cord and disc material.

also, MRI was not of neck that I know of. My neck hurts constantly and I feel great deal of pressure there.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to require surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that you have multiple mild disc bulge at multiple level in thoracic spine and you are unlikely to require surgery. MRI is of thoracic spine. It is not of neck. You probably require pain management and physiotherapy. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
