Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. There is mild pelvicalyceal dilatation in means that the collecting system in the kidney where urine is generated is slightly swollen in appearance.

2. The causes of such a finding might be due to any one of the following reasons.

(i) Stones in lower ureter can also cause fullness of pelvicalyceal system and this needs to be cross checked by seeing the ureter opening in the urinary bladder.

(ii) It can be that the bladder was completely full at the of ultrasound scan. A recently passed out kidney stone might cause this appearance but if this has happened then you should have experienced severe pain in the abdomen recently.

(iii) The kidney pelvicalyceal system is appearing full by itself (extrarenal pelvis) and is an extension of normal appearance.

(iv) Rarely an infection of urinary system and kidneys (recent or old) can cause such a finding but this is likely only if you have symptoms like pain in the region of kidney and problems like burning urination or discoloration of urine or any kidney infections in the past.

(v) Any mass in abdomen including retroperitoneal area causing pressure on the ureter.

3. Each of the possibilities have a different perspective and some require treatment and others are acceptable as normal occurrence. Please upload copy of complete report if you desire to discuss more accurately and also send the details of symptoms you are facing, any past history of kidney or ureter stones or urinary infection.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Please send complete report details to know if medicines are required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. It is important to know what exactly has happened in the urinary bladder as mentioned in rest of the report.

2. The stomach pain has to be correctly matched with the problems causing it. It is not clear if the pain is due to any stone in the urinary tract or whether he has developed infection in urinary bladder.

3. Without reading complete report it is difficult to tell if the problem can be solved with medicines.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer:
Please consult urologist and proceed

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Your father has a 6 mm stone in the lower end of the left ureter which is located just before it enters the urinary bladder.

2. He should drink lots of water and pass urine frequently so that the stone gets flushed out of his system.

3. Please consult urologist and take prescription for a medicine like alpha blocker that will cause the stone to pass through the ureter. Medicine has to be taken after consulting urologist only as we cannot prescribe that medicine online as per rules.

4. It is a slight concern because if the stone does not come out in 10 to 15 days then the urologist might have to do small procedure and take it out else it can affect the kidney function.

5. Please get kidney function tests done to know if serum creatinine is high.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
