Posted on Fri, 1 Aug 2014
Question: Hello Doctors...
My son is 2 years old.... Today I received his blood test. I see that Lymphocytes are high 6.8K/mm3, last year they were 5.9k/mm3. Also Neutrophil this year is low 1.6K/mm3. What that is mean? Should I be worried about the result?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Thank you for asking.
I can understand your concerns.
First of all I would like to know for what reason you had got the blood tests done. also what is the total luecocyte count. The interpretation of the blood tests depend on the clinical signs and symptoms.
The nuetrophil count is slightly on the lower side but nothing to worry as such if he does not have any symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
If it is a routine check up then there is nothing to worry.
Neutrophil count of the lower side or the lymphocyte on the higher side do not have much significance without any symptoms in the child.
Rest assured, there is nothing to worry.
I hope I have helped you.
If you have any further query please feel free to ask.
Thank you.
