What Does High Globulin Level Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 18 Dec 2014
Question: A couple of months ago my globulin was high at 4.4 (lab range is 2.0-4.0) and my doctor wasn't concerned. Just had blood work done again and it is down to 4.1 which is still considered "high" since range is 2-4. The rest of my blood work was completely normal. Should I be concerned about this since in the past years I have always had normal globulin level?

Brief Answer:
It is accepatble.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

There may be slight variation in results.Serum albumin level 4.1 can be considered as normal. It is important to see other factors like serum albumin level, liver function tests.I presume other factors are normal,so there is nothing to be worried about.
Your condition also need clinical correlation. It is important to know reason for investigations.

Thank you for your reply....I really appreciate it. My albumin was normal along with all other levels. This was just a routine cbc and complete metabolic panel. It was just the globulin that was little off 4.1 (range 2.0-4.0). Just don't know if I should be pushing to investigate why the globulin is off.
