Brief Answer:
High cholesterol levels show risk of heart disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.

SGOT and SGPT are liver enzymes known as aminotransferases and tell about liver function. Your SGOT is normal but SGPT is mildly elevated (normal upto 50-60).
This should not be a concern for you.

Total cholesterol should be less than 200. At 243 yours is high.
Triglycerides should be less than 150. It is 410 and high in your case.

The cholesterol and triglycerides give a risk for heart disease. You may consult a cardiologist and also maintain healthy diet and fitness levels to control your cholesterol levels in the normal limits.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Thanks for the reply. The other question that I've is that I had been consuming 2 beers and 10 cigarettes on a daily basis and eat out most of the time in a week as being away from home and at times have a mild pain on the right abdomen (position beside the stomach), is this a point of concern on the liver health?
Also, pls suggest the diet I need to follow to reduce the SGPT, Cholestrol and the pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Your eating, drinking and smoking habits need to be controlled. These may be causing high cholesterol and liver function tests. The pain on right upper abdomen may be due to gall stone formation. I suggest you get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen done at the earliest.

Please take low fat, and moderate amounts of protein and carbohydrates in diet. Also control smoking and drinking habits and its best if you stop them.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
